The concept originated in 2018 at ETH Zurich's Neural Control of Movement Lab, developed and validated by Dr. Sarah Meissner and Dr. Marc Bächinger. To start things off, Sarah received the SNSF Spark Grant which is awarded for unconventional projects and promising ideas of high originality. This enabled us to initiate the proof-of-concept for myflow in the lab.
Since 2018, we have been validating the training method of myflow and its (neuro)physiological effects in multiple studies including more than 100 participants.
In 2020 Marc received the ETHZ Pioneer Fellowship. This was the kickstart to our entrepreneurial journey, supporting us in the transfer of myflow from the lab to the market.
2021, we received Venture Kick stage I & II of funding.
Meanwhile, our software moved from the lab setting to our first proof-of-concept of myflow in Virtual Reality.
To tackle the problem of stress-related diseases, experts from the fields of psychiatry and psychology, neuroscience, cell and molecular biology, cardiology, engineering and translational bioinformatics have launched the STRESS project. In 2021, MindMetrix became an implementation partner at the HMZ STRESS Project. Its aim is to investigate the risk and resilience of stress over the entire lifespan and its effects on health.
Beginning of 2022, we tested our first MVP with André Bossert, a Swiss golf professional and his coach.
Since 2022, we collaborate with ETH Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Sports Magglingen for a Bridge Discovery Grant. The goal of this 3-year project is to validate and further develop myflow for sports performance.
Finally in October 2022 we incorporated our startup MindMetrix and received the official ETHZ Spin-off label. Upon founding MindMetrix, we secured our first investor: Serpentine Ventures.
In 2023 our first pilot project was launched with four sports psychologists, mental coaches and their professional athletes. In close collaboration, we tested myflow over 8-12 weeks and further developed it according to the users’ feedback.
In July 2023, we participated in the Internationalization Bootcamp at Swissnex in San Francisco in order to explore the US Market. Swissnex gave us unique opportunities to pitch in front of an international audience, brought us into conversation with tech experts from Silicon Valley and supported us in our long-term planning.
